We Need You!
There are many ways for individuals to provide support. FOWS strives to become a strong, responsible voice for the protection of the fragile ecosystems of the West Shore, while we work to build sustainable communities. Keep informed and take action!
In the year 2011, we have an immense agenda. First and foremost, it is anticipated that the Final EIS/EIR for Homewood Mountain Resort (HMR) will be released in the Fall. It will require very careful review as we anticipate the document could be over 2,000 pages.
FOWS shall continue to use expert professionals to determine if proposed developments for the West Shore will be environmental improvements. There can be no “net loss” of any of the thresholds.
How can I participate?
You can participate through the following ways:
- We need people to attend the meetings scheduled by Placer County and TRPA to follow the Homewood Mountain Resort Master Ski Area Master Plan CEP Project through the Final EIS/EIR phase.
- We will also need individuals to write letters to these same agencies in response to HMR plans.
- West Shore Community Plans will need residents to volunteer to be part of the development of the first of three recommended plans in Sunnyside, Homewood and Tahoma.
- Volunteers who are residents of both El Dorado and Placer County will need to participate.
- If you are a member of any associations, especially homeowners associations, please request if we can come as a speaker concerning these issues.
- You can help us gather the information and
- Finally, you can support us to continue to evaluate the environmental health of projects on the West Shore.
