West Shore Issues

Members of FOWS consist of residents who have had properties for generations as well as new additions to our communities. We hope to develop a greater understanding and a stronger, collective voice in the development and other changes that will occur on the West Shore. The TRPA’s Community Enhancement Program (CEP) such as Homewood Mountain Resort, creates an opportunity for community involvement, education and advocacy will help develop a unified approach to future growth proposals.

  •  Regional Plan Update: The Regional Plan Update, especially the TRPA Staff proposed alternative #2, will have an impact on the West Shore. Through redevelopment of the aging built environment and replacing the bad development of the past, good projects can create environmental gain and better social and built environments is what we have been told.
  • West Shore Community Plans: We believe a formal community plan is an essential element of planning redevelopment for the West Shore.
  • Land Use Development: The Community Vision Statement concerning Land Use development is very important to the future growth of the West Shore.
