The Tahoe City PUD manages the bicycle trail through the West Shore. Bicycles are very popular in late spring, summer and fall especially with tourists. From Fawn Street north to Cherry Street there is no option for bicycles other than to be on the very narrow Hwy 89, especially when crossing Madden Creek. The TCPUD has come up with two alternatives:
- Alternative No.1 is along the State Route 89, after it is improved by Cal Trans. It will be a Class I Bike Trail.
- Alternative No. 2 follows along the Placer County right of way and due to be asphalted for Erosion Control Project on Sans Souci.

This issue is very important to FOWS, the danger of bicycles on the highway must be resolved as soon as possible and prior to any more injuries.
